I really liked the idea of Major League Fishing, but I was thinking it should be taken one step further. I was inspired by the row of rental Jon boats at Holiday Park.
Get the top 50 Bass Pros. They come empty handed, and are given a $500 gift card to Bass Pro Shops that has to cover their Rods, Reels, and Tackle. On tournament day, they are each assigned a 14FT Jon boat with a 9.9hp Tiller (Imagine KVD Screaming "It's game time!" and then putting all 9.9 of those horses to work!).
Electronic GPS? An old torn map and a compass.
Trolling motor? 12V Hand Control.
Power Pole? A concrete block tied to 6 foot piece of frayed rope.
Fish Finder? Polarized Sun Glasses.
Auto Bilge Pump? A bucket with a broken handle.
Sun up to Sun down on some random waters with NO practice allowed.
Obviously this would be a one time event, but I think it would be great to watch the Pros get way out of their comfort zone. Well, Bill Dance might be okay. For an extra challenge, officials, driving 21 foot bass boats, will wake them five times randomly throughout the day as they fish.
As a bonus the Top 10 could square off with their normal boats, electronics, and equipment on day 2.
