Yamaha tech tip (update, problem again)
A few months ago i noticed my water pressure had droped and at the same time noticed my water temp would not get over 100 degrees (always ran at 120 degrees or 50 c.) this was blowing my mind, how could this be i asked, So i called hydro-tec and talked to jon and he said it was the water jacket cover gasket on the head had a hole in it, he was right, had a hole you could put three fingers through. I replaced the gasket, temp and water pressure both came back up. I should have called them before i pulled the lower unit, thermostats and trouble shoot the temp and water pressure gauges.
Update..Just had the same problem again but this time with the port side, see old vs. new gasket. took pics to show this time..notice the ugly hole on the old gasket?
