Fuel/water seperator unit

I have a 2000 Skeeter with Yamaha V-Max two stroke 150 and want to add a fuel/water seperator unit for added fuel filtration. From what I have read on other sites, this is a cheap, wise investment to better protect your motor. My question is where and how to install it. Can you screw the thing into the fiberglass wall inside your rear compartment where the batteries/fuel tank and oil tank are located? Space is limited, and does it have to be level? Dont want to do this (screw into fiberglass) if there is another way. The instructions that come with the unit dont go into that detail. Need your advise please.
