**PLEASE REMEMBER** IN MOST STREAMS SOUTH OF THE MISSOURI RIVER, BLACK BASS SEASON WILL OPEN 05/23/09. UNTIL THAT DATE ALL BLACK BASS IN THOSE STREAMS MUST BE RETURNED TO THE WATER UNHARMED IMMEDIATELY AFTER BEING CAUGHT. FOR DETAILS SEE CHAPTER 6 OF THE WILDLIFE CODE.

TROUT PARKS
Bennett Spring State Park: 54 degrees, high, dingy; stream is up 10 inches due to recent rains; best success is to fish deep; successful lures and baits include: jigs (black/yellow, ginger/orange); mini-jigs (beadspread and John Deere); glo balls (any three color combo and white); also successful are bright colored Rooster Tails, hot pink brassies, white Power Baits and orange plastic worms. Vegetation cutting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20. For more info call 417-532-4418.

Maramec Spring Park: 58 degrees, falling, dingy; spring branch is muddy; fishing has been good. Kids Fishing Day is May 16; Upper one half is reserved for kids fifteen and under; check

Montauk State Park: 58 degrees, normal, dingy; the river has a green hue and is a couple of inches higher than normal with good flow; in the bait area, corn, doughbaits and Power Baits in white, yellow, green, cheese and pink are producing good numbers of fish; in the fly area scuds and mini marabou jigs suspended under a float are producing good numbers of fish; check at the lodge for other good fly choices. Roaring River State Park: 57 degrees, falling, dingy; repairs are currently being made on areas of bank erosion caused by the May 1 flood; most of damage should be repaired before Saturday's Kids' Fishing Day; some repairs on the stream may continue early next week; for current or detailed information call 417-847-2430.
