This is a quick how-to video on replacement of the water separating fuel filter on a 2008 Mercury OptiMax 250 Pro XS outboard. The procedure is very simple and probably applies directly to any of the high performance 3.0L V6 outboards.
I intend to put together videos covering many routine maintenance items for these engines. Chassis and gearcase lubrication, spark plug removal and replacement (not completely straightforward on an OptiMax engine), water pump impeller replacement, etc. Hopefully the quality of future videos will be better. Lighting was not adequate for this one, among other things.
This was done partly to help others, partly to help ME remember how to do these things, and partly as an exercise in video recording and editing. Mostly that last thing...I need a lot of practice.
