I took no offense, gonefishing7903, and i totally understand it is a definite hot potato to talk about. You can find the negatives and positives on both sides. I played a lot of baseball and have always been quite a historian of he game. The terrible things that happened to the early baseball players that i personally know about because of spending a lot of my life growing up with a close friend, actually my catcher for years, whose father spent 30 years in the Bigs. The things that happened to the players from the owners who colluded most of the times and left the players totally helpless. A great many great players lives were damaged beyond belief just because an owner deemed it his right. Of course now with the players unions and extremely high salaries the shoe is on the other foot to a great degree. Seems like there's never a good middle-ground to be had. To my way of thinking baseball players along with all pro-sports are entertainment people and they make no more or less than what the market will bear. Still it kinda grates on the nerves when i go to buy tickets and seats at Busch Stadium and my eyeballs pop out every time i price them. A basser i once heard said "sometimes i'am a hero and then sometimes i'am a zero" and i don't think it could of been said better. Tight lines to ya!
