Actually it's not the ramp drop off that annoyed me, though it's a concern. It was the jack holes on jet skis waking me as I loaded the boat for the first time. I do appreciate the tips though because I wasn't entirely sure how to get the trailer unstuck if I ever did get stuck. Also the sound of the bullets through the air from missed shots at the range didn't make me feel good either. I know these comments reply to a few of the posts above so I'm combining my reply... First, it's the law whether posted or not that all boat ramps are no wake zones. But jet skiers aren't really boaters so they don't know or pay attention to the rules although their craft has the same rules as boats. 2nd, the range at Markham is situated at a level where the bullets if they go that far, will go overhead of anyone in the canal and most are just guys shooting skeet with shot in that direction. I've been going there for 25 years and it was never an issue. As for the ramp ending, it's a little scary and dangerous to stand inside your trailer frame and lift it while your buddy hits the gas peddle but if you're careful and he's familiar with your tow vehicle it works out just fine. The best secret about fishing Markham is that most of the early morning bass I've caught there don't don't become active until the first boat or ski goes by. It's like the wake stimulates the feeding as it hits the rocky bank. I've caught so many fish right after that happens that now I wait for someone to pass instead of getting pissed when they don't slow down.
