Parks Offer Fall Fun
Several Alabama State Parks have festivals and special events planned around the fall season. These offer the perfect opportunity to spend a day with your family outdoors. Here are some of the offerings.

Cheaha State Park will host Autumn Harvest Fest on October 30. Come join us for a day filled with spooky movies, a costume contest, a campsite decorating contest, and later, trick-or-treating through the campgrounds for the kids. Admission to movies is free for overnight guests of the park (due to limited space), and concessions will be available for purchase all day long.

DeSoto State Park will host Spookapalooza on October 22-23. This event is free and open to the public. Hear spooky stories and watch a spooky movie on Friday night. Saturday, more spooky stories and trick-or-treating in the campground.

Frank Jackson State Park hosts Scarecrows in the Park through November 15. This event is sponsored by the Frank Jackson Lake Trail Masters. See several hundred scarecrows decorated by local businesses, churches and organizations.

Lake Guntersville State Park hosts Haunted Hay Ride and Trunk or Treat on October 30. Meet at the beach area located near the main campground at 5 p.m. for trunk or treat. Hayrides leave from the beach pavilion beginning at 6:30 p.m. and are $2 per child age 12 and under and $3 per adult.

Wind Creek State Parks hosts a Halloween Carnival on October 23. Activities include inflatables, obstacle course, cake walk, face painting, pick-up ducks, ring toss, bean bag toss, ping pong toss, football and basketball throw, dart throw, go fish. Refreshments will be available. Carnival is from 1-3:30 p.m. with the costume contest at noon.
