Hope this is the correct forum for this post!
Next week I will be getting a 1998 Hydra Sports Z-270 loaded with a Johnson 150 FastStrike. Don't know the exact year of the FastStrike as yet!
The boat has been setting up at least a year as the owner had gotten in very bad health. Talking to the family concerning the motor, they have told me that there is no gas in the tank and hopefully that means with the last use they ran all the gas out and there is no gas in the carb bowls that has gummed up anything.
I have always ran Mercury up until now. My question is, what brand oil do you folks recommend for this motor. I ran quick silver in the mercs but it has been years since I have owned a bass boat. My friend who owned the boat always took excellent care of the boat and engine and I sure want to continue the upkeep. Unfortunately I can't ask my friend any questions as I did his funeral last June!
Any suggestions on how to approach a situation with a rig that has set up so long will be greatly appreciated!
