It was today in 1995 and I was fishing in Chokoloski, Everglades City on the west coast of FL for trout and Reds. I beached my boat on a sandbar and decided to walk the shallows to toss a Mirro Lure to some redfish I spotted finning in the shallow water by the edge of the drop off.
Then, like nothing I had ever felt before, something stabbed my right foot thru my nylon water shoes and it felt like a filet knife went right through my foot. I then saw the big stingray flapping in the mud as it went away. I limped back to the boat and asked my wife to drive us back through the 10,000 Islands area to the ramp, about 3 miles of oyster beds, shallows and lower unit destroying rocks as I layed on the boat floor in serious cramps and searing pain. My leg was turning blue and I was sweating and nauseous. The nearest hospital was in Marco Island but we headed home to Ft Lauderdale after a stranger loaded my boat for me. I was in the E R until 4 AM and given crutches and Cipro. Below is a picture just B4 I got zapped! I just thought of this when I saw the date on the back of the photo. image.jpg
