I purchased my bassboat a couple weeks ago down in TX. I bought a '94 Stratos 270dc with a '95 150 'Rude on it. This hull and motor is very similar in size and weight to a Triton TR180 with a 150 Johnson I had a few years back. I never had a bit of trouble with the Johnson oil injection system in that motor and fished it hard and often. It went to a guy who did the same and as far as I know it's still running well.
Now I've read 2 or 3 threads in various areas that advise getting rid of the self oil injection system and going back to a 50-1 mix. I know OMC had a lot of problems with a ridiculous mix in tank auto oil system they had on some smaller motors but since the 150hp motors of the 90's were the standard of the industry I thought their oil injection would be safe.
What say you on this? Anyone blow powerheads because of malfunction like some guy said happened to him twice on a thread?
