Went out to Loxahatchee today. Launched the boat fine and idled into the flat area. Its about 3-4 feet so was idling a bit and then when to get on plane and a loud alarm sounded. The motor then starting smoking pretty good. Fished on the TM for 5 hours and started the motor agin to get on the trailer. No alarm, no smole seemed fine. Before the alarm sounded I noticed the speedometer didn't seem to be working.
I called a marine near me and they sid I likely got the intakes clogged with weeds (it was thick with eel grass) and the engine alarm sounded and when it did the computer dumped extra oil into the motor to protect it. They said the impeller could have been damaged but if I run it again and get no alarm that it probably cleared. It was most likely weeds that got stuck in there.
I'm planning on going fishing tommorow and I want to see if I can get her on plane with no alarm in whcih case all should be good if the water pressue is good. I didn't notice any water pressue problem because we were idling and it wouldn't register at that speed (the gauge starts at 5 and it was pretty much at the bottom. It did seem to be peeing after I started to load the boat on the trailer.
Should I run it tommorow and just load it back up if no alarm sounds?
