Are you sure you are driving an American car?

An interesting news article today said that one of the UAW workers could not park his Lincoln MKZ at the UAW headquarters because it was not classified as an American car. Honda and Toyota build some cars in America and Ford and others have some of their vehicle components built elsewhere. Its a little confusing but the article said that the UAW determines if a car is "American" or "Foreign by looking at the VIN numbers. If a VIN Number starts with a one or two then they consider it an American car. Anything else is considered Foreign.
