I've decided to replace the bearing/races/grease seals on my Skeeter trailer.
I saved the old ones that I removed several years ago just for reference purposes. Today when I was on Champion Trailer. com and Redneck Trailer.com to see who had the best deals on bearing/races/seals, I find the two websites have different "numbers/sizes" for my boat trailer. For instance, the old "double-lip" grease seal has a National #473317, which is for a spindle size of 1.688" dia. When I use my old bearings as reference...Inner #4T-L44649 and Outer #4T-L68149, the two firms shows my spindle size is 1.719" dia.
I called Champion on this, and the lady was somewhat confused when I mentioned to her the old Inner race(cone) was #4T-L88110. She suggested that I buy two (2) new Hubs with the seals/bearing/races already installed. I mentioned that was a good suggestion, but Champion hubs have are for 1.719" dia. shafts (spindles) axles.
If I purchase these hubs...complete ready to install, the grease seals would not hold the grease as before.
