The Buckeye Crappie Challenge fished Indian Lake on Saturday May 9, 2009. What an awful day it was for most. After morning rain winds kicked up tp 35 mph and the lake became too rough to even cross. We managed a limit of fish in about an hour and decided to move to another spot to hunt for bigger fish. What happened next will change my life forever. Let's just say we found a boat capsized with two men in the water and one in bad shape. We saved the two and got them inland to ambulances waiting..... I still haven't heard on their condition. We quit the tournament because we were soaked and had to fill out paperwork for the Water Patrol and Fire Dept. The tournament officials let us weigh in our fish early and we went home. We finished 14th with 5.08 lbs. but the main thing is the two men are alive. In our minds we won the tournament ..... of life.
Here are some pictures of the 18 foot boat that was sunken and towed to the ramp. It took 7.8 lbs. to win. Big fish was 1.98 lbs.
