If your carpet is laying flat here is an easy quick method to bring that new look back.
Go to a pet store or Wal-Mart and buy a dog brush that has the stiff wire brisels.
Rake the carpet in the oposite direction that it is laying so that you are standing the fibers back up straight. After doing this it's a real good idea to clean the carpet with a shop vac or a carpet cleaner. You will be amazed at the dirt you will pull out of it.
The trapped dirt that holds under the fibers is the key reason why carpet will wear out faster.
I like to wet the carpet down then use the shop vac to pull the water out which will loosen up the dirt also.
