Depth finder transducer

Quick and maybe a dumb questions. Will any transducer read thru the hull of a bass boat? What is the recommended way to attach them? What if any issues could there be with mounting them inside the boat? Sorry if these seem like dumb questions but I want to replace my malfunctioning in dash flasher with a modern unit but I'm not keen on drilling my Gambler, nor am I sure a transducer mount would hold up at high speed. Any advice would be heat.
