A dog owner whose dog was a female in heat agreed to look after her neighbor’s male dog while they were away. She believed that she could keep the two dogs apart without incident.
However, after drifting off to sleep she heard howling and moaning. As she rushed downstairs and found the dogs locked together in obvious pain and unable to disengage.
Unable to separate them, and unsure of what to do she called the veterinarian. Although it was late, he did answer but sounded pretty grumpy over the phone.
After she explained the situation the vet said, "Hang up the phone and put it on the floor beside the dogs. I will call you back and the noise of the ringing will make the male lose his erection and he should be able to withdraw."
"That seems a little unorthodox, are you sure that’s even possible?" she asked.
To which he replies “maybe you should ask my wife!”
