When I first joined the Military my unit was flying F-4 Phantoms. No other Combat jet comes close to displaying the power, speed, brute force and "ANIMALISM" that the Phantom projected. This was indeed a "can-do" ANYTHING aircraft. Our pilots would simply TRASH opposing aircraft in DACT deployments. F-16's, F-15's, F-14's, F/A-18's... it didn't matter. Our guys were flying/maintaing these "old obsolete" birds since Vietnam (and were were still flying them in the late 80's/early 90's. They knew the planes strengths and weaknesses and how to exploit it. One deployment we flew agains Active Duty F-15C's out of Egland AFB Florida. Our final victory/loss tally was 86 Kills vs 21 Loss's. We later dubbed the deployment "Operation Eagle Roast"

This video is from a "brother" Air National Guard Unit (Nevada Air Natl. Guard) out of Reno NV. This was right before they retired the last RF-4C's in the mid-90's. Some incredible footage and piloting. The F-4 took some serious attention at low speed/low altitude's.

Enjoy! :first:
