Well we had our first opener saturday
What a day 80 deg no wind sunny basically one of the top ten
days so far
Got on a tube bite early but only managed a ton of 11 3/4 in fish
then I saw what looked to be a sawbelly floating on the surface
but it was beaten up pretty good. Then another about ten feet further down.
Out comes my jerk bait, same size same color bammm a 14 inch SM.
about a half hour later after a bunch of shorts again the freekin water explodes as this 4 lber hits it as I let it suspend only a foot below the surface. After a while I managed to get the Smallie in 3.96lbs. So I'm thinking got a good shot at cashing a check. The lake we were on reall sux for weight and big fish. A typical 5 fish limit on this lake is 6lbs on a great day. So far I got 5.5lbs with 2 fish. Managed to scare another 1.5er up on that same jerk bait. for a total of just under 7 lbs for 3 fish.
That was good enough for 2nd place just a nudge out of first.
Oh yeah that 4 was good enough for lunker for the day too. cha ching
