fishing situation/ solution,etc

If you were fishing a tournament lets say in lake Champlain NY launching from south bay, where would you go? also lets add that most of the guys in tournament were getting lots of fish by fishing water chestnuts, but this fish pretty much all the same size. Now, what kind of structure would you search for to get a little more weight then this other guys? would you change locations or you just change bait and /or color hoping things work out for you? About second day of tournament, bite probably would shot down a little what would be your strategy? just curious about the diferent aprouches you guys would take to a situation like this. This might happen to me in 2 weeks since our club is gonna be up there. (Charlie, you see where I'm going with this, right?)
Actually I'm just double checking the strategy I have for this tournament, and hoppefully pick up a tip or two as far as baits for this great fishery.
