Well I couldn't stand it any longer without knowing how my project boat with the 110 Johnson was gonna run so I decided to take it out.
Running against a steady 15 mph wind in rough water the heavy little BumbleBee ran 52 mph on the GPS with me and my buddy in it and a 1/2 tank of gas.
Problem is ... I don't know what the top RPM range is for this motor and it turned 6200 @ WOT trimmed out !
Must have been 3 miles down river before I realized how high it was turning and then backed it down to 5500 and let it run steady.
Ran it at several different speeds and it ran like a new motor, cranked good, accelerated good etc.
So ... how many RPM's should this old bubble back 110 safely turn ?
I checked the spark plugs when I got home and they are running a beautiful light brown/cream color. No sign of piston burn or anything like that either.
