[ICAST 2023] NEW From Savage Gear – The BFT Flyer
For ICAST 2023 Savage Gear has brought out a monster killer of a lure with the new BFT Flyer. Savage Gear has already hit the headlines for an absolute monster of a catfish that was caught earlier this year, they have now set their sights on making a lure for monsters offshore. They have set their sights on making the ultimate offshore flying fish deceiver. “Go Big or Go Home” is the motto of this bait, coming in at 16 inches long and having a wingspan of 16 inches as well. The looks of the bait come from meticulous 3D scans of actual flying fish. This was done to create the most accurate lure possible. The patterns and features of flying fish have been crafted into the lure.
Besides just looking good the soft body and wings also function well, mimicking a flying fish’s movement through the water. The lower tail lobe of the lure is enlarged so when it skips across the surface the bait has a swimming action. The body has a solid core for enhanced durability to withstand multiple ferocious strikes. The wings and hook harness are removable so whether trolled or fished under a kit, the BFT Flyer is highly adaptable to fishing conditions. The BFT Flyer has been designed with a line-thru design, keeping the BFT Flyer up the line away from the fish during a fight, preventing the fish from utilizing the lure’s weight to leverage the hooks out.
“We worked with a highly skilled team that specializes in catching giant bluefin tuna, and harnessing the meal that they love to feast on the most.” Says Theis Gronemann, Marketing Manager for Savage Gear. “The BFT Flyer is finely tuned for both topwater trolling and kite fishing, and will exceed the success of anything currently available.”
The BFT Flyer ships out with a spare pair of wings, a spare rig, and parts needed for easy rigging. The MSRP of the bait is set to $150 and should be available in stores starting this September.
