FWC seeks information on capsized bass boat found in Alligator Alley canal
Officers with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) are asking for the public’s help in locating the operator of a bass boat found overturned Saturday night in a canal off the south side of Alligator Alley, west of the mile marker 40 boat ramp in Broward County.
For several hours in the darkness, FWC and its law enforcement partners searched land and water for occupants but without success. Officers also searched all the boat ramps along the Alley but did not locate a vehicle or trailer that could have transported the capsized boat.
Debris, including food and fishing gear, was found floating near the scene. The key was in the ignition and in the “on” position.
Attempts to locate the boat’s current owner were unsuccessful; the boat’s registration expired 10 years ago.
Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the FWC’s Wildlife Alert Hotline at 888-404-3922. Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward if their information leads to an arrest.
