Lightning gear case

Hello, last week I wrecked the lower unit on my '97 fast strike. I have it on a '97 Stratos 295. I took it in to have it replaced, but the original unit is on backorder. They offered to replace it with a lightning gear case for the same cost as long as I can use my original drive shaft. Does anyone have an opinion on this good or bad? Thanks for any help.
