I am recarpeting, along with attempting to restore the finish on my older model boat (93 Ranger 374V). My questions are 1. The previous owner had sprayed the boat with what I assume to be automotive clear coat, and it is now chipping, pealing, and dull as milk. I am able to get alot of the clear off with a pressure washer and have start to sand as well. My problem is that I am getting to deep into the gel for my taste. Should I stop taking all the clear off and respray (if so best and cheapest clear to use?) or continue sanding and buff the finish.
2. As I am stripping all the carpet from the boat I have found that there two peices to the compartment lids with the carpet between the two fiberglass sections. How do I seperate the two sections of the lids?
Sorry for the long drawn out post but any help is greatly appreciated. Weathers getting warm and im ready to fish.
