HUNTSVILLE - Condemned Texas inmates are allowed to choose the final meal they'll consume on the day of their execution. Lawrence Russell Brewer selected a large final meal but didn't eat it.
Brewer was scheduled to receive his final meal at about 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Walls Unit in Huntsville, prior to his execution, but refused to eat the meal.
According to Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokeswoman Michelle Lyons, Brewer selected:
*Two chicken fried steaks smothered in gravy with sliced onions
*A triple meat bacon cheeseburger with fixings on the side
*A cheese omelet with ground beef, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers and jalapenos
*A large bowl of fried okra with ketchup
*One pound of barbecue with half a loaf of white bread
*Three fajitas with fixings
*A meat lovers pizza
*Three root beers
*One pint of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream
*A slab of peanut butter fudge with crushed peanuts
Lyons told KFDM News the TDCJ tries to accomodate an inmate's request-within reason. The items must be available in the TDCJ kitchen. She said they don't always provide the quantity of each item specified by the inmate.
What a Damn Idiot...
