I always remember September as being the worst month for fishing in the Everglades. I went out Saturday and Sunday and only got two fish after fishing about 8 hours. I didn miss a nice one at the boat just before I went in (was about 4-5 lbs and had him right next to the darn boat).

I'm not sure if its all the water that flows down from the summertime rains or the heat. I talked to some guys at the ramp that said that caught some fish and they were using Senkos, wacky worms and a frog. Do the finesse patterns work better this time of year in the Southeast? I was fishing a 10 inch worm and a spinnerbait. I figured the fish would be tight in cover but they seemed to be on the dropoffs. They were breaking the water all day hitting bait but they sure didn't like what I was doing.

What type of pattern do you fish in September?
