My starting battery died on me twice now. Had to use jumper cables from one of the trolling batteries (12v) to get her started before heading out yesterday and then again last night before I flushed the motor.
Going to dig into the battery compartment in a few minutes and test everything out. May be that I am not running the motor long enough to charge the starting battery. I have two Group 27's (12v for trolling) in parallel hooked to an on-board charger and leave these plugged in to AC outlet when the boat is not in use. I think the charger is only a one bank but since it stays connected for days on end, I figure the slower charge rate isn't an issue. I am wondering if I need to connect the cranking battery to the other two and just let all three charge at night?
Anyways, that is what I am going to do today. Someone mentioned bacon in an earlier post, which has me hungry now. Might cook up some grub before going outside to work on the boat.
