Hey everybody - I've been doing some supertunes/cleanings of some shimano baitcasters (Citica, Curados, scorpions, chronarchs, and cores). I just wanted to share my process of how I clean and supertune. ONe of the curados i did for a guy was underwater for a year when I got it.
Only thing I replaced were the bearings - I upgraded them with ABEC 5 ceramic hybrids and cleaned/supertuned everything else. He said even after being underwater that long its as smooth as any of his other reels.

First thing is - take apart the whole reel. I find it easiest to lay the pieces out on a piece of paper or an empty egg carton with each piece in a seperate in the order i take them off, so that I know i can just reverse the order when I put them back together.
Here's a pic of the reel taken apart in 2 distinct lines of parts. reel handle and assembly and tension knob assembly.
At the bottom, you see the drag assembly and the main gear.
As I take each part off, I wipe it down with a damp cloth, spray with a shot of simple green to get all grease off, and then wipe clean with rubbing alcohol.
All metal parts get a cleaning session in the ultrasonic cleaner!
