Tech , Question

I need some help!. On a fishing trip to Canada last week, my fuel gauge on my Triton boat stopped working. It stays on empty and when turning power on, it goes a little more to the left. I know The boat was full when I started and was at 1/2 half tank when it quit. Are there any suggestions on what could be the problem and how do you remove the seats from the boat to get at tank? Boat is a 2001 Triton 21' bass boat.
