Just got back from the dealer that has my new engine. Picked up parts n' pieces I can install prior to the engine gettin' bolted on next week.
While there I asked if he had mounting bolts for the jack plate. I'm not sure what this guy does for his "other" job but... we finally agreed that I wanted bolts that would go though the transom AND hold something on. You know... like a bolt longer than 3 1/2".
He returns with a package of bolts/nuts/washer - which are too short. I tell him "Those are too short!" His reply "I dunno - it's what Mercury is sending us!" I look at'em and it is a set of stainless steel bolts and washers with.... Brass nylock nuts. At least they looked like brass. They for sure were not stainless.
I'm thinkin' well I suppose that'd work on a 50hp 4 stroke. On the showroom floor he has a brand new z9 Nitro with XS 250 with - brass nuts on the engine to jack plate mount. I told'em... nev'a mind... I'll get'em somewhere else.
Has anyone else seen what I'm talking about?
