THERE has been some steady trout-fishing action across Victoria.
Geoff Lacey at Mt Beauty says the Kiewa River is producing good numbers of brown trout to 2kg on worms and Peter Newgreen reports the trout fishing is hot in Lake Dartmouth for brown and rainbow trout to 2kg on mudeyes and scrubworms.
Gary Constantine at Eildon reports the Goulburn River at Pt Hill has been steady for brown trout to 650g on bladed lures.
Atlantic salmon to 2kg (fish farm escapees) are being caught in the Rubicon River on drifted scrubworms.
Lake Eildon is producing brown trout to 1kg on scrubworms and flat line trolling gold Tassie Devil lures.
Good news for native fish anglers is that the yellowbelly are starting to move with reports of fish to 2kg being caught on lures in Jerusalem Creek.
Eildon Pondage has rainbow trout to 2.2kg taken on sherbet Powerbait.
In the Western District, Doug Lucas reports that Mt Emu Creek has brown trout to 1kg being caught on flies and lures.
The Gellibrand River is producing brown trout to 2kg on broken back minnow lures.
Lake Bullen Merri is consistent for brown and rainbow trout to 1.2kg on gudgeon, Powerbait and trolling.
Lake Purrumbete is producing rainbow trout to 1.5kg on mudeye and trolled hard body lures along with redfin averaging about 400g on minnows.
Neil Shelton at Nelson reports the Glenelg River is returning to being tidal after the heavy flush of freshwater.
Neil says bream from 30cm to 38cm are being caught on scrubworms, cut crab and vibe lures near the Princess Margaret Caves.
Chris Hall at Portland says the Lee Breakwater has produced school sharks to 20kg, snapper to 3.6kg and small barracouta.
Pinkies are being caught along the North Shore at Portland, with school and gummy sharks to 10kg taken near the mouth of the Surrey River.
Bream to 35cm are in the channel at Peterborough and being caught on shrimp.
Clifton Beach near Peterborough has salmon to 1.2kg taking cut pilchard.
Large calamari squid are being caught in good numbers at the southern end of the bay at Sorrento, Portsea and the Lonsdale Bight.
Both artificial and baited jigs are producing results.

Salmon to 2kg are being caught on lures from Portsea to Pt Nepean. Bream to about 1kg are being caught on scrubworms and Bass yabbies in the Patterson River.

Snapper reports are inconsistent.

Fish to 5kg are being caught on the eastern seaboard from Carrum to Seaford in about 20m of water on squid, pilchard and silver whiting.

Consistent results are coming from Corio Bay inner harbour with reasonable numbers of snapper to 4kg being taken.

King George whiting to 36cm are in good numbers off St Leonards and they are being caught on pipi, mussel and squid.

In South Gippsland, Gunnamatta has salmon to 1.2kg taking pipi and bluebait.

In Western Port, Andy Smith reports a few snapper to 6.5kg caught off Lysaughts in about 16m of water on fresh squid and pilchard.

Gummy sharks to 6kg are taking eel and squid along the channel edges.

Alan McFayden says that Kilcunda has salmon to 1.8kg and Anderson Inlet have good numbers of salmon to 2kg.

Salmon are being caught off all beaches at Venus Bay.

Waratah Bay has salmon to 800g and in Shallow Inlet the salmon are to 2.5kg and taking lures.

In the Gippsland Lakes, flathead and bream are taking prawn and soft plastic lures off the Hollands Landing wharf.

In the Mitchell River, bream are biting on crab and prawn at Eagle Point.

The Tambo River is producing good numbers of bream to 1.5kg and some silver trevally on live shrimp and peeled prawn.

In the Nicholson River, the jetty and Highway Bridge are good for bream on prawn and hard body lures.
