Nightmare

#1
Water temps varied for the week, from 70-72 with an occassional blip into the 69 range in some backwaters.

Day air temps ranged from 52-80.

Weather conditions were mostly overcast, occassional full sun, and varying rain.

Winds varied up to 45 mph with Tornado Warning/Watch and Severe T-Storms Warning locally on 10/9.

Water clarity was lightly stained with visibility 5-7 feet. The back of some creek arms and sloughs were murky with visibility down to 1-2 feet.

Fish seemed to be scattered, to put it mildly. No concentrations relating to creek arms, points, drops, shallows. Marked fish mostly from 21 - 32 feet. More marked deeper but not much above 15 feet. Bait fish were marking strung out from 33 up to 13 feet but more lightly in the shallower depths. Some post-dawn and pre-dusk pods of shad found at surface in protected areas. Occassional fish busting shad on the surface but only sporadic.

One of the crew spoke with a pair of locals 1 evening when he was loading out and they were putting in. They told him they were still fishing summer pattern (night fishing).

No consistent pattern was found by anyone in the crew during the week, unfortunately. Nobody had been on TF before so it was up to all boats to "make their own case". Being a "deep water" lake and most of our other trips (except Smith Lake, AL) involving at least some shallow water related features, we were working our butts off.

Pulled a combination of 8 SM/LM between the 3 of us FOR THE WEEK. Best was a 3-04 SM. Keepers came on a senko, ratltrap, crankbait, zaraspook, hair jig.

Thrown besides these were spinnerbait, buzzbait, drop shot, c-rig, t-rig, tube.

If interested, you can read the rest of the trip adventures in the Humor Forum. ;)
